Crossfit Open 14.3: Back to Basics

Dave Castro dropped the announcement of 14.3 on us tonight and for the first time in the 2014 Crossfit Open, you won't read any complaints from this lowly blogger. This is an inclusive, yet increasingly challenging WOD, and it'll challenge the beginner, intermediate and advanced athlete. This is, at least in my opinion, exactly what the Open should be about. These type of WODs are why the Open has grown from 26,000 people to over 200,000 people in just four years.

As for strategy, my plan will be to just try and stay smooth and easy for eight minutes. The dead lifts start pretty light so the very first set, at least should go unbroken. As for the box jumps, I'll be stepping up from the start. Rebounding box jumps, while possible, exhaust me pretty quickly but stepping up at a steady pace should be fairly maintainable for all eight minutes. They mentioned it on the broadcast and I think this is absolutely true for this WOD, it's all about living and thriving in the suck for 14.3.
